Platanias
Municipality of Platanias covers an area of over 70000 sm. According to the latest cencus in 2000 it has a population of over 5000 inhabitants. There just 13 villages and small hamlets with in this area. All on the north coastline of the Chania area in the island of Crete.
The villages that became municipality of Platanias in 2000 are: Gerani, Maleme, Kontomari, Vrises, and Syrili. Today Platanias is probably one of the wealthiest and more popular areas of Chania Crete.
Platanias is situated only 20 minutes away from the international airport of Chania and 30 minutes from the harbor of Suda. During the summer Platanias is the busiest area in Chania. Platanias combinates a busy lifestyle but also a relaxing place.
